After dropping off the oldest daughter in Salt Lake City, I continued on to Arches and Monument Valley. Arches has been on my wish list for a long time. The goal has been to reach the Delicate Arch. Entire web sites dedicated on telling you how strenuous the hike to this arch is, I got there in less than 45 minutes. Beautiful it was out there, until the Disneyland crowds started to show up.
On to Monument Valley. After buying a more detailed map of Utah, I decided to try this road that went straight into the Native Indian reservation. However, this road is blocked, but saw another road with a card box sign stating that ‘This is a residential neighborhood <sic>. No tourists’. As a photographer, I don’t consider myself a tourist. Drove for a good six miles through this ‘residential neighborhood’ (I counted 9¾ residences) when my phone indicated that I was now in Arizona. Wow. Found a nice little hill (that was littered with glass bottles) and took a few photos there.
